(Fransalian Initiatives for Developmental & Educational Services in India)

FIDESIndia is the Social Service Agency of the province, taking care of the social activities and projects.  It is an expression of the commitment of the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales to the integral development of the human person and the society, particularly of the poor and the needy in the rural villages and urban slums of Karnataka. Its existence of the past eleven years was an enterprise of learning. We have been working in the states of Karnataka and Kerala since 1991 and have supported hundreds of children and families from poor communities in addressing the causes of their poverty and inequality. Today we provide financial, managerial and counseling assistance to hundreds of individuals, families and various centers. Jyothi Nilaya

Jyothi Nilaya is a Social Action and Rehabilitation Centre.  The very purpose of this centre is to give an uplifting hand to the street children. This project is the brainchild of Fr. Thomas Chennakattukunnel and is still in the initial stage.  This centre is located in Calicut city, near Kannur Road.  Outreach programmes, street education, counseling etc. for street children were initiated intensively.  The future programmes that are envisaged are night sheltering, medical aids, educational programmes, vocational training, recreational activities etc.  Lately some effort is made to rehabilitate the children of prisoners and it is found to be very welcoming and effective.

Prison Ministry

South West Province has extended its services to the people behind bars by engaging itself in Prison Ministry.  Fr. Jose Karekat MSFS is full time involved in this ministry in the state of Kerala in his capacity as the State Director of Jesus’ Fraternity, the prison ministry wing of the Catholic Church in India. Pastoral Sociolgy Institutes

PSI SEVA BHAVAN, MALUR

PSI Seva Bhavan at Malur is a centre of social work and other multiple ministries.  It was established in 1993 by its Founder and first Director Fr. Kurian Aranjaniyil.  Seeing the good works done by us in the villages for the upliftment of the poor, the government has come forward and entrusted the centre with Swasakthi projects. This is to empower the women by training them and helping them for self help. PSI has taken this project with great interest and has formed 40 groups in various villages and each group has 15-20 members.

PSI SEVAGRAM, KENGERI

PSI Sevagram in Kengeri is a subsidiary of the Pastoral Sociology Institute in Malur.  This centre was started in 1996 and has been working in collaboration with PSI Malur. Daniela Health Centre started by PSI is a great blessing for the sick in the near by villages.

PSI SEVA NIKETAN, SAVANUR

PSI Seva Niketan is another subsidiary of the Pastoral Sociology Institute in Malur.  The centre conducts various development programmes and animates around 160 Self-Help Groups.

PSI SEVA SADAN, KUKNOOR

PSI Seva Sadan is again another subsidiary of Pastoral Sociology Institute in Malur.  It has taken up various village development programmes.

Boys' Homes

SFS BOYS’ HOME, HEBBAGODI

SFS Boys’ Home in Hebbagodi is a haven for the hapless and orphan children.  There are about fifty children and they are given free education in our schools in Hebbagodi.

SFS BOYS’ HOME, CHINTAMANI

The SFS Boys’ Home in Chintamani is an abode for poor and helpless children.  It provides facilities for their education and growth.

SFS BOYS’ HOME, GOKUNTE

There are around 20 boys in the Boys’ Home in Gokunte.  It has helped the children to grow in a secure atmosphere and receive free education.

SFS BOYS’ HOME, KADISSENAHALLI

SFS Boys’ Home in Kadissenahalli lends a helping hand to the hapless children of the parish.  They are given free education in the school.

SFS BOYS’ HOME ULICKAL

The province has begun Boys' home in the parish of Ulickal in the diocese of Kannur in Kerala.
