Our mission in the Philippines completed 12 years on September 20, 2005. The newly erected South West Province was entrusted with the task of stating an MSFS mission in Philippines in 1993 and thus the two pioneering missionaries, Fr. Mathew Kavithazha and Fr. Francis Kizhakkethazhe arrived in Manila at the invitation of the former Archbishop of Manila, Jaime Cardinal Sin. These past twelve years have been a period of pioneering and clarifying our missionary priorities as well as stabilizing our presence as a missionary congregation. At present we have three canonically erected communities – the MSFS Formation House at Silang Cavite and the 2 Pastoral communities - St. Joseph’s Parish at Bagong Silang in the diocese of Novaliches and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish and Pastoral Centre in Molino in the diocese of Imus. The three communities are functioning within the inner-structure of religious life and mission. There is good, cordial and fraternal relationship within the community as well as between the communities. The mutual collaboration between the communities makes the total life of the mission truly vibrant. The twofold vision and mission of the MSFS in the Philippines are to plant our congregation in the Philippines by establishing permanent communities with ministries according to our charism and to respond to the needs of the local church by forming indigenous Philippino priests. |
