Therefore in the use of time we sin in two ways: By excessive economy and by untimely prodigality. On the one hand there is the obsession for saving time, on the other hand there is the triumph of time lost. In any circumstance to lose time unprofitably is a folly. It is a rare wisdom to know how to lose it profitably. ‘To know and to learn how not to lose one’s time’ must be corrected and replaced by ‘to know how to lose time but profitably.
