Fr. Mathew Kozhuppakalam

It is a great joy to announce the Good News of the appointment of Fr. Mathew Kozhuppakalam as the third Provincial of South West Province. Our Superior General, Rev. Fr. Agnelo Fernandes made the announcement of the appointment of Fr. Mathew Kozhuppakalam as the Provincial of South West Province on 6th June at 21.00 hrs.   We thank God for the gift of Fr. Mathew Kozhuppakalam to the province to help us, to strengthen us, to lead us and to guide us. We extend to him most heartily Congratulations, Prayerful wishes and abundance of God’s Blessings. We assure him our love, support and prayers.

Fr. Mathew was born on 24 November 1949 at Edathua, Kerala. He completed his secondary education in Edathua. He joined the Mount Mary Seminary, Arumanoor on 13 June 1964. From1966-69 he did philosophical studies at St. John’s Regional Seminary, Hyderabad.  He joined the novitiate on 4.5.69 and made First profession on 4.5.1970. Fr. Mathew completed his Masters in Theology, in Catholic University, Eichstaett, Germany on 28.02.1976 and was ordained priest on 8.8.1976. Fr. Mathew served as an Assistant Professor, Catholic University, Eichstaett from 01.02.76 to 28.02.1978 - Assistant Priest in Kipfenberg, Eichsstaett from 01.02.77 to 28.02.1978 - Assistant  Parish Priest in Munich, Germany from 01.03.1978 to 28.02.1982

-  Secured Doctorate in Theology,  from Ludwig Maximillians University, Munich, Germany on 17.01.1983 -   Assistant Professor in University of Vienna, Austria from 01.03.1982 to 01.03.1985 - Assistant Parish Priest in Vienna, Klosterneuburg, Archdiocese of Vienna, Austria from 01.03.1982 to 01.03.1985 - Secured M.A. in Psychology, Webster University, St. Louis, Vienna, Austria on 09.03.1985-Assistant in R.C.Church, Tanuku, Andhra Pradesh, India, from 27.10.1985 to 15.05.1986 - Professor in Suvidya College, Bangalore from 01.06.1986 to 31.05.1987 -  Rector in Suvidya College from 01.06.1987 to 05.06.1994 - Provincial Councilor, South-West Province from October 1994 to October 1997 - Parish Priest in St. Francis de Sales Parish, Hebbagodi, Bangalore from 01.03.1995 to 25.05.1999-Director of SFS Boy’s Home, Hebbagodi from 01.03.1995 to 25.05.1999 - Rector in Vinayalaya, Bangalore from 26.05.1999 to 10.6.2005 - Director of Fransalian Mission Association from 01.03.1995-Professor  of Psychology and  Human Growth, in Suvidya College from 01.06.1986-Professor for Moral Theology in St. Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Bangalore from 01.06.1999 - Professor for Moral Theology in CRI Brothers’ Institute from 30.06.1999 - Resource Person in the Indian Institute of Spirituality from 01.06.1997 and Resource Person in Family Welfare Center, Archdiocese of Bangalore from 01.02.2001 – Provincial Councilor from October 2003 to June 2006 – Executive Director of FidesIndia from 2003 – Rector – Director of Divya Tejas from 2004 - Rector of Tejas Vidya Vihar from July 2005 – Elected Provincial 2006.

Fr. Mathew is a multi-faceted person. The main concern of his life is the concern of the mission of the congregation and the mission of God. For the past thirty years as a priest he was fully involved in the service of the Congregation and the Church.

May God strengthen Fr. Mathew continuously, anoint him daily so that he can strengthen and renew the Province in His Mission. Dear Fr. Mathew, we are with you, Go ahead courageously. Vive Jesus!
